About
Operating right out of Kailua Beach Park for over fifty years, Kailua Canoe Club is a wonderful, enduring staple of our Windward community. Their mission goes far beyond simply teaching the mechanics of outrigger canoe racing; they are deeply dedicated to fostering a strong sense of *ohana* and a lasting, respectful connection to the ocean. Rooted in traditional values of *Aloha*—including *Akahai* (kindness), *Lōkahi* (unity), and *Ha‘aha‘a* (humility)—the club provides an incredibly supportive environment for keiki to learn and grow. **Program Highlights** * **Keiki Paddling (Ages 9–18):** Welcomes youth athletes starting at age 9, with absolutely no prior paddling experience required. * **Year-Round Options:** Features a lively Regatta Season (March through August) with multiple practice days a week, plus off-season training opportunities. * **Accessible & Supportive:** Committed to making the sport accessible by offering dedicated scholarships for both youth paddlers and graduating seniors. * **Holistic Training:** Focuses not just on the canoe, but also incorporates cross-training, ocean safety, and community volunteering.
