Operating out of the Mililani Mauka community, the Hawaiian Kajukenbo Association delivers structured martial arts instruction focused on realistic, multi-disciplinary self-defense. The program teaches the traditional Kenpo-Karate branch of Kajukenbo—a hybrid system developed in Hawaii in 1947 that systematically integrates the striking of Karate, the throwing and joint locks of Judo and Jujitsu, the rapid hand mechanics of Kenpo, and the footwork of Boxing. Led by Chief Instructor Erika Iversen, the school places a strong emphasis on critical life skills, including mutual respect, concentration, confidence, and physical conditioning. The structured, family-centered layout provides a clear black belt rank progression pathway, helping local youth develop core body coordination, awareness, and focus within a safe training environment. ### Program Highlights * **Age Groups:** Serves practitioners of all skill levels through dedicated divisions including Little Dragons (ages 4 to 6), Youth lines, and Adult classes. * **Core Curriculum:** Combines traditional forms (katas) and combinations with practical self-defense, tactical conditioning, and specialized weapons training for advanced ranks. * **Schedule Format:** Regular mat sessions run on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM (staggered by age block), alongside dedicated Saturday morning training blocks.
